A poet's autobiography is his poetry. Anything else is just a footnote.

Swept Away

You are
The biggest player.
But how I love you so. I Gather
In your corners, your sides, I float across
You. All day I am dispersed around you by the re-
volting feet that trample you.
They do not know you like I

Do. How I wish I could stay for more than a single day! If only I
Could blend in.
They would not see me, they could not sweep me. Oh no!

I can hear the broom coming like a nearing wind.
Closer and closer it comes to

take me away from you. Away I go, thrown out like decrepit garbage,
Forgotten,

And replaced anew The next day. But how I love you so.

Hannah Leanna

“Ow!’
“Get out of my way!” “Get out of my way!”
“Excuse me?”
“Move!”

She bumped into me. I didn’t bump into her.
How rude,
I have to get to class. I have to skip class.
So boring…
The bathroom…

My escape. My escape.
She’s calling on me.
I’ve been spotted.

What do I say? What do I say?
“George Washington.”
“I have to go to the nurse.”
Wrong answer.
Good excuse.
Next student.
They bought it.

“Crap period over its time for gym.” “Crap period over its time for gym.”
“Oof that hurt!”
“Haha that was funny, she’s puking”

God I hate gym. God I love gym.
Someone stole my shirt!
I stole her shirt.
Minus a shirt.
Great another shirt!
Time for lunch…
Time for science…I mean lunch.

“Where do I sit?” “Where do I sit?”
“Maybe I can share a seat?”
“Hey kid move!”
I’m just standing there.
She’s just standing there.

Bully… Dork…
Ring Time to go to the bus. Ring Time to go to the bus.
“Wait for me!”
“Keep going!”
Missed it again.
Success!

Walking home… Riding home…
Five more miles
Two more minutes.
“Thanks for waiting”
“Anytime sis.”

Dirty Rotten

I sweep
away all of the dust.
But tomorrow there will be more.
These foul kids make this a must.
I sweep away all of the dust.

They scamper off to get to the bus,
Leaving me here with this horrible chore.
I sweep away all of the dust,
But tomorrow there will be more.

Love's Plight

They yell and scream until they can’t anymore.
Neither one knows who started the night’s fight.
They’ve even forgotten what they were fighting for.
Now how will they forgive what happened tonight?
Silence sets in as everyone feels the hate.
Each one storms out before anymore is said.
How can they stay mad when their love is fate?
Will they ever make up or is their love dead?
The dark of night draws them out a second time.
The cool wind blows as forgiveness is spoken.
While their love is strong it’s a dangerous climb
With little spoken is everything still broken?
Their love is a chore always settling the score.
Hopefully they recall what they're fighting for.

Flow

I can’t believe
What you screamed at me
Last night on the phone
You made me cry and wanna die
But yet I am not alone.

As I sat there and stared and stared
So speechless I could be
You took the words from my mouth
And sent them right back at me.

The next day
When I wake
I promise you I will be gone
Don’t bother looking
I know that I have won

This fight tonight may not be right
But I know I must continue through
Yet again until the end
I will always hate you

The movie where you did not dare
To witness the secrets of our doom
Again and again
You got a lot of nerve
Coming here and talking to me like this
Making me want to end my eternal bliss

So come on now
You coward of the day
Just leave me alone
And finally I’ll say
Though I still miss you
I will never love you
No matter how hard I try
Goodbye.
